Vibrational Healing by Jaya Jaya Myra

The best time to heal yourself, or so they say, is when you are well. It is true that, by the time illness sets in, the dis-ease is already firmly established and creating disharmony within deeper levels of the psyche.

Therefore, the key to attaining good health is to engage with healing energies at the point at which they are working to maintain the body’s essential processes.

The question that you will be asking at this point, “how do you achieve this?”, underpins this self-healing publication by energy healer and yoga instructor Jaya Jaya Myra.

Myra has been interested in alternative healing since she was a child. Initially, she trained in traditional Western medicine but, following a sequence of dramatic changes in her life, she moved from the West Coast to New York City. There, she started a spiritual and healing center and a non-profit organization called Gita for the Masses, which teaches people how to overcome obstacles in their lives.

Her experience as a healer has led her to share her research in a practical manual of instruction titled Vibrational Healing.

In the opening to her book, Myra explains that she wanted to teach her students about the nature of what are fundamentally spiritual laws but to present them in a way that is easy to understand and apply.

Myra begins explaining her system with an introduction to the basics of energy healing. She touches upon the basics of the subject, including the role of the mind, intellect, heart, feelings as well as the spiritual components of self-healing. This includes a brief explanation of the impact of habitual action, created thought-forms and how energy travels along these lines, perpetuating the status quo in our lives.

The author believes that one key aspect of healing power is found in the function of the human heart—an organ that she believes has four primary roles. These are to help in keeping us alive physically, to act as the seat of our souls, to radiate out our core feelings and as the agent of our power to love.

Myra believes that the key component to understanding our personal energy systems are our ‘Chakras’ or psycho-spiritual centers and she uses a seven chakra system, with a few minor chakras included, as her map for working vibrational energy.

However, not every person has the same energetic make-up. The author recognizes this and so she also considers an individual’s ‘gunas’ (sattva, rajas and tamas) along with their elemental bias (i.e. earth, fire, water and air).

Together, these various internal energy dynamics control the way that the flow, or otherwise, of prana works around the body. This, ultimately, determines your quality of health.

Following an explanation of the practical and spiritual qualities of each chakra, Myra includes a quiz designed to help you identify your own energy fingerprint and elemental bias.

In part two of Vibrational Healing, Myra explores specific tools and techniques that you can use for healing. These include aromatherapy oils, stones and crystals, plants, herbs and spices.

In adition, the author recommends specific exercises that you can perform when you are working with vibrational healing. These include grounding visualizations, meditations for cultivating healing energy and breathing exercises aimed at helping to move pranic energy around the physical body.

The book concludes with the inclusion of an appendix, recommended reading and concluding remarks.

Our Review of ‘Vibrational Healing’ by Jaya Jaya Myra

If you are new to the world of Eastern methods of energy healing, this book is an excellent place to start.

Written with a friendly and engaging flow, Myra presents the basics of the chakra system but applies the additional features of elemental basis within us all as a way of explaining how pranic energy can be used to heal us. This is done in a vibrant and concise way.

With the inclusion of personal anecdotes and simple, practical exercises, this book offers you an insight into how you can bring states of illness and disharmony back into a state of balance by working with your elemental and energy disposition.

My only misgivings regarding this book is that it fails to outline the core Eastern principles of health that underpin this system, their history and how they operate. I would like to have seen a more detailed explanation of the chakras in particular but these are minor quibbles over what is otherwise an outstanding publication.

If you are looking for alternatives to our chemical-based system of Western healing, this book is an invaluable starting place.
In Vibrational Healing, Jaya Jaya Myra reveals the powerful basis to Eastern healing and presents it in a way that is easily comprehensible to the Western mind.
