Weiser Books to Republish The Book of Thoth by Aleister Crowley

The Book of Thoth by Aleister Crowley

Weiser Books are to celebrate 60 years of occult book publishing with a new hardback edition of Crowley’s seminal work on the tarot. To mark the 60th Anniversary, Weiser Books is publishing a facsimile hardcover of its 1969 edition of Aleister Crowley’s The Book of Thoth, which in turn was a facsimile of the original O.T.O. edition printed in 1944.

This book endures as one of the most definitive volumes on the tarot ever written and describes the philosophy and use of Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, the deck designed by Crowley and painted by Lady Frieda Harris.

The new collector’s edition features digitally restored text printed on heavy, coated stock, and features revised color plates and black and white illustrations of the Thoth Tarot based on new photography of the original art, courtesy of the O.T.O. and The Warburg Institute. The book text block is smyth sewn, with a rounded back and headbands. Cloth-bound with gold foil stamping and printed endpapers reproduce the Egyptian motif from the board covers of the original 1944 edition.

Limited Edition

Weiser will not be reprinting The Book of Thoth facsimile edition – once this special run of 3,000 copies sells out, that’s it. Advance copies of this quality hardcover have already been favorably received by such luminaries in the field as Jim Wasserman, Lon Milo DuQuette, and Rodney Orpheus.
