Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness by Various

One of the most frightening experiences of our lives is having our world view distorted in some way. To many people, it seems odd that there are those who search for ways to deliberately fracture their mindset.

However, there have always been intrepid explorers seeking insights into the workings of human consciousness. These individuals often return with insights into strange inner worlds—information that, invariably, causes us to question our own personal paradigms.

Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness is a collection of articles by a diverse set of esoteric writers, all of whom have one thing in common. They have a fascination for the way consciousness can be expanded into realms that are not ordinarily available.

The stories they offer are fascinating, invariably exciting, always challenging and, occasionally, fraught with the stuff of nightmares.

Split into seven sections, this book examines many different methods for gaining a clearer insight of how to break down the doorway and access other realms of conscious awareness.

Whatever your approach to exploring alternative realities, it is probably covered in this book.

Topics include breathing practices and meditation techniques through to the use of plant stimulants such as Ayahuasca and psilocybins.

Some contributors refer to traditional psychic skills, such as lucid dreaming, out-of-body experiences and remote-viewing.

The articles I found particularly interesting were two that discussed the impact of reduced visual capabilities in individuals and how these disabilities alter the way they perceive reality. Given that what we believe is exactly the same as what we tend to see and, ultimately, experience, the opinions of those who have little choice but to rely on their own ‘inner vision’ to get around should be given a voice more often.

Our Review of Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness by Various

As much as I enjoyed reading the book, I was disappointed that there was not enough truly contemporary commentary on the nature of human consciousness.

Its title suggests that the reader will be introduced to research into the quantum world of psychology, parallel dimensions and holographic universes for that is where the real cutting-edge of human consciousness is going.

Instead, the range of subjects on offer here, although broad and engaging, are still quite orthodox by today’s standards.

As a species, we are rapidly shifting into our stellar light bodies and, as we do, the territory before us is growing increasingly bizarre.

However, Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness really failed to grasp some of the deeper issues related to cosmic, rather than terrestrial, consciousness.

In other words, a lot of the road traveled in these articles remains firmly trapped in the Astral Realms.

Another glaring omission is the lack of reference to the use of ‘magick’—solitary, ritual or ceremonial—as a time-honored method for traveling the inner worlds.

This concerned me somewhat as some of the consciousness-shifting methods proposed in this book can put you in danger of possession by inner world entities.

Magickal techniques can protect you from some of these very dangers. To this end, I am wary of any techniques that propose the use of psychedelics to open the ‘doors of perception’ artificially without being administered in any sort of controlled environment.

Nevertheless, this book radically confirms the self-evident fact that our established world view is fracturing.

Every day, each of us is forced to confront the frail and collapsing reality of the social paradigm that we have been spoon-fed since birth and to examine the mental framework of our lives for a new age.

In this regard, Exploring the Edge Realms of Consciousness offers an uplifting examination of the potential of the human spirit to travel into unseen territory and marvel at its magnificent wonders.
